Every few days, between bursts of showers and freezing flurries, we actually get a day nice enough I think I could catch a fish.

This was a first for me. As with anything, I'll know how to be better prepared for the next time. It was a beautiful day and the daredevil skiers were a sight to behold.

 

Shake a Tail Feather...

There is a beautiful and historic theater above one of the businesses located on Main Street in downtown Kalispell. It is small but when you're standing in the middle of the floor, encircled by the mezzanine above, you really see and feel the shows, the cowboys and cowgirls, the dancers, the musicians, that once stood there too.

Now, it's where Kalispell’s North End Swing dancers dance. So when we wanted to do a preview of their upcoming weekend of dancing, it was the perfect place to do a series of portraits... but I couldn't get in. Blast.

So, moderately last minute we took to the streets of Kalispell to try something a little different. The dancers were superstars. It was very cold, maybe even freezing, and they never complained. It had to be short (about 30 minutes of shooting time) and, of course, first thing I did was break one of my strobes. So there were challenges. Still, it was fun and I know the theater is still there, waiting for a photo opportunity.

I'm Seeing Red Today...

It has been kind of a rough couple days - not for any particular reason, but some days don't need a reason to get you down - so I figured I'd post some Red. Welcome to a few images I made during a Valentines Day event at Crush Wine Bar in Whitefish. The fundraising event supported Youth Image Project, an amazing non profit I'm proud to be on the Board of, which works to empower at-risk teens through documentary photography.
